Another Nobel Peace Prize for 2009?

It's only been a few days since the Nobel Committee surprised everyone including the winner himself, by naming President Obama as the 2009 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. They did it on the basis of his speeches expressing his strong interest in world peace. The Prize was granted in the hope that his interest becomes a reality. Now, however, the Committee finds itself in a quandary.

The Committee's problem? The Mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (the two cities A-Bombed to bring World War II to an end) today announced that they they will team up to bring the 2020 Olympic Games to their cities. They say that their entry into the competition will advance the cause of world peace.

So to be consistent, the Nobel Committee must now take the unprecedented step of belatedly naming the Mayoral team as Co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Alfred Nobel must be spinning in his grave.
